Water Quality Information

The quality of water for domestic purposes is controlled by regulations issued by the Secretary of State (England) and Minister for the Environment (Wales) and which are based on European Community Directives.

They set out in detail the standard which it is necessary to meet to comply with that obligation, and the monitoring and recording procedures to be followed.

Records pertaining to water quality are readily available for investigation by members of the general public.
